Atrua Pioneering Fingerprint Touch Control to Provide Greater Security and Ease of Use for Smartmachine Mobile Ticketing Applications

Campbell, CA and Oberdorf Austria, March 26, 2007 – Smartmachine International (www.smartmachine.net), a leading provider of ticketing and commerce solutions for mobile phones including contactless (NFC) communication and Atrua Technologies, Inc. (www.atrua.com), the pioneer and leading provider of Intelligent Touch Controls™ for mobile handsets have partnered to demonstrate the future of mobile ticketing and m-commerce applications at the CTIA Wireless conference happening in Orlando, Florida, March 27 – 29.

“Using a mobile phone for m-commerce applications needs to be quick, easy, and secure,” stated Christian Ullmann, CEO of Smartmachine. “Atrua’s fingerprint identification capability is a key enabler for mobile ticketing and mobile marketing applications, because it fosters the trust of ticket providers and increases the confidence of mobile ticket users who make purchases and transfer value with their mobile phone. The fingerprint touch control from Atrua is the first fingerprint biometric solution that we have found to be truly designed and developed for mobile phone applications.”

Atrua’s fingerprint touch controls are optimized for integration with mobile phones. About the length of a staple and thickness of a matchstick, Atrua’s ATW310 fingerprint sensor is mounted on the phone’s housing. Phones such as the Toshiba Portégé G500 and G900, announced recently at the 3GSM World Congress in February incorporate Atrua touch controls to improve handset security and convenience. On other phones being demonstrated, users can authorize a purchase or check a bank account balance with a simple swipe of their finger on the touch control – a process that is more secure and convenient than entering a password or a PIN.

“We are pleased to be working with Smartmachine,” remarked Carl Temme, vice president of marketing at Atrua. “Their broad experience with ticketing and contactless applications in Europe, Asia, and North America gives them the perspective to help network operators, and ticket providers worldwide quickly bring their m-commerce visions to market. Smartmachine’s deep knowledge of ticketing, access control, and mobile handset technology uniquely positions them to fit all the pieces together and make mobile ticketing solutions a reality.”

Meetings with Atrua at CTIA from March 27 – March 29 can be scheduled by sending an email to info@atrua.com. Additionally, Carl Temme will be speaking at the Smartphone Summit, happening in conjunction with CTIA on Monday, March 26.

Atrua will also be demonstrating additional capabilities of its made-for-mobile fingerprint touch control solutions. In addition to security and authorization applications, the ATW310 can be used to create secure shortcuts to access favorite services and applications without having to navigate through menus or type passwords. Users simply designate a finger for a specific application (e.g. forefinger to log into an email portal, little finger to check a stock portfolio). In addition, the touch control’s navigation function provides users with the ability to smoothly and rapidly scroll through lists, providing a great improvement over the clicking typically needed to find items buried within long lists such as e-mail, messages, personal contacts, and music play lists.

Smartmachine will demonstrate the full process of mobile ticketing - including reading a promotion from a smart poster, shopping, purchasing, and using mobile tickets - by means of handsets empowered with NFC technology and Atrua’s fingerprint touch control.

Meetings with Smartmachine at CTIA for demonstrations from March 27 – March 29 can be scheduled by sending an email to info@smartmachine.com.
