Linksys Cuts Communication Costs For Consumers And Small Businesses With New ADSL2+ Gateway

WEBWIRE

From the Spring 2007 VON Show, Linksys®, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the recognized leading global manufacturer of voice, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and the small business user, today announced the ADSL2+ Gateway with VoIP (AG310), its newest intelligent ADSL Gateway solution for internet connectivity and VoIP.

Linksys has shipped over 10 million VoIP ports worldwide to date. The AG310 takes advantage of this well-established heritage of delivering VoIP products that are mass-deployable with comprehensive interoperability to deliver service providers a solution for multiple communication needs.

Remotely provisioned, configured, and managed by a service provider, the AG310 is installed by the end user or a value added reseller (VAR). It includes an integrated ADSL2+ modem, router, and 4-port Ethernet Switch, and can serve as the main hub of a home or office LAN. When connected to a standard telephone or fax machine via the FXS port, the AG310 enables users to place and receive local or long distance calls over their broadband ADSL connection via a VoIP service provider.

Should the small office lose power or Internet connectivity, calls can be redirected back to a traditional Telco or PBX carrier via the FXO port. Both the FXS and FXO on the AG310 can be independently configured via software controlled by the service provider or end user.

“Broadband ADSL2+ customers can use the AG310 to take advantage of feature-rich voice services while reducing their overall costs,” said Tarun Loomba, senior director of product marketing, Consumer Business Organization, Linksys. “Service providers can utilize the remote provisioning, configuration, and management of the solution to offer their customers a higher level of security for business-critical conversations and other interaction.”

Security
Security management functions supported by the AG310 include VPN Pass-through for IPSec, PPTP and L2TP Protocols; Port Filtering; MAC and IP Address Filtering; DMZ Hosting; PAP and CHAP authentication; and NAT Technology. It features an SPI firewall with Denial of Service prevention and enables email and web-based logging of security events. The AG310 also offers URL and ToD filtering, along with keyword, Java, ActiveX, Proxy, and cookie blocking.

Pricing and availability
Available immediately through Linksys U.S. Distribution partners, including Ingram Micro, Tech Data, and D&H Distributing, the Linksys AG310 has an estimated street price of $135.99. Authorization from Linksys, and a Linksys Voice Service Provider Agreement is required to purchase these products
