Department of Education Connects School Network with J-series Routers

Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR) today announced that Departemen Pendidikan Nasional Republik Indonesia (DIKNAS), or the Education Department of Indonesia, has deployed Juniper Networks J2300 routers as part of a nationwide virtual private network (VPN) build-out. The J-series routers form the basis of DIKNAS’ nationwide network which will provide Internet access to thousands of schools. Deployed in late 2006, the network also serves database applications, video conferencing and other network applications related to the operation of Indonesia’s education system.

“This is the first phase of our nationwide education network deployment which is on track to eventually connect thousands of schools,” said Bondan Sapto Prakoso, the Technical Team Leader at DIKNAS. “It is imperative that Indonesian students and schools be supported by a modern communications infrastructure offering not just access to Internet resources but the interchange of education materials and operational information.”

Juniper Networks J-series routers offer predictable high performance and a variety of flexible interfaces that deliver secure reliable network connectivity to remote, branch, and regional offices. The DIKNAS school network is remotely managed by PT Telkom, Indonesia’s largest telecommunications service provider, in conjunction with Juniper partner, Siemens Communications. Both companies will provide ongoing support and additional development for DIKNAS.
