OGDEN, UT , May 19, 2007– FMC Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: FTI), Jetway®, the global leader in airport systems solutions, once again demonstrated its full readiness to serve the A380 market. As the aircraft began its tour of the United States yesterday, a Lufthansa A380 successfully docked to an FMC Jetway A380 Passenger Boarding System at John F. Kennedy International Airport, Terminal One with approximately 500 passengers on board. That particular gate system includes multiple JETWAY bridges, one of which is specially designed to reach the extreme elevation and proximity-to-wing location of the A-380 upper deck door. The system also includes FMC Jetway JETAIRE® pre-conditioned air and JETPOWER® 400Hz inverter units, appropriately sized for the considerably increased demands of the double-decker superjumbo.

Years of study, design, and testing, including consultation with Airbus, Terminal ONE, its consultants, and many others went into the preparation of a unique passenger boarding bridge system to reliably handle the A-380. In addition to the increased height and volume demands of the aircraft, there were many other challenges associated with getting that many people on and off the aircraft, to and from a passenger hold room area, in the constricted apron space associated with most airports.
Other FMC Jetway A380 bridge system installations include Sydney, Melbourne, Johannesburg, and Vancouver. Most of these systems include the aforementioned FMC Technologies JETAIRE pre-conditioned air and JETPOWER 400Hz inverters. In addition to the full bridge systems, FMC Jetway has successfully supplied the A380 JETAIRE units at Heathrow and in Dubai. Terminal 4 at JFK just purchased two Jetway A380 bridge systems for its operations with installation underway.
