Integration Of Brix Service Assurance Technology With Linksys Devices Enables SunRocket To Provide High-Quality Internet Phone Service and Exceptional Customer Quality of Experience

SAN JOSE, Calif. — VON Spring 2007 — Brix Networks, the leading provider of converged service assurance solutions, today announced at the VON Spring 2007 Conference & Expo being held here it is collaborating with Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and SunRocket, one of the nation’s fastest-growing Internet phone service providers, to deliver automated endpoint monitoring for improved quality of experience (QoE) for SunRocket’s members.

Brix has integrated its service assurance technology with various Linksys home networking devices, including Analog Terminal Adaptors (ATAs), to provide SunRocket with a highly scalable, real-time service assurance offering. The combined solution automates periodic Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) media loopback testing across the entire network, groups, or single subscribers, and also collects, correlates, and analyzes the results to produce actionable information reports.

This automated Brix-Linksys SIP media loopback testing solution continually verifies the performance and quality of deployed Linksys equipment, and can quickly identify issues that may be occurring between SunRocket’s infrastructure and its members. SIP media loopback is an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) working group draft targeted to become a Request For Comments (RFC) later this year.

Additionally, the resulting generated quality metrics -- including a mean opinion score (MOS), latency, jitter, and packet loss -- use standards-based methods implemented by Brix and Linksys and allow SunRocket to proactively manage the performance of its Internet phone service and provide a high level of quality of service (QoS) to its members.

“SunRocket, Brix, and Linksys are working together on a QoS monitoring and measurement approach that will enable us to simultaneously scale our membership base while ensuring that each member receives a high-quality Internet phone service experience,” said Mark Fedor, CTO, at SunRocket. “This standards-based collaboration not only delivers end-to-end service visibility through automated performance monitoring tests, but also allows SunRocket to act on this information and execute service improvements in real time.”

According to Sherman Scholten, Linksys director, VoIP product marketing, “The combination of our ATAs, Brix Networks’ integrated service assurance capabilities, and SunRocket’s service delivery platform helps to improve operational efficiencies, provide visibility into the health of a VoIP service from the executive level through customer service reps, and helps to ensure endpoint quality and overall service performance.”

Brix Networks and Linksys are exhibiting at the VON Spring 2007 Conference & Expo at the San Jose Convention Center, March 20-22, where Brix is a Platinum Sponsor in booth 1437 and Linksys is exhibiting in booth 945.
