March 21, 2007 – ncaastrategies.com interviewed Will Kinsler of EA Sport’s Community Leaders program to discuss with him how his position within the company will help gamers become more connected with developers of EA’s hit football titles, NCAA Football 08 and Madden 08.

What changes do you plan in regards to the relationship between EA and message board sites?

Over the past four years, EA SPORTS has done a great job in laying the foundation of a solid relationship with Madden and NCAA Football fan sites. This year, I think we can build on that by providing better (and more) access to EA SPORTS throughout the year. Fans should have an ongoing dialogue with us that extends beyond the months leading up to the release of our titles. I also want fan sites to be a bigger part of the feedback process by which we collect ideas and concerns about our games. That’s something I plan to speak about with fan site owners and staff in the coming weeks.

For those sites and gamers that obtain early copies, do you have plans to make that happen earlier than the weekend prior to release?
This is something we’ve done for a couple of years now. The timing of sending out early copies to the community is dependant upon when we’re able to receive them in the studio. There is no way to know in advance exactly when I will have copies of a title, but when I do receive them, any community representatives receiving a copy will have one immediately.

Is this concerted effort for communication with the fans just for the football franchises, or will it be for all EA Sports titles? (If so, are you the liaison for all games, or will each sport/title have its own contact person?)

I think you’ll find that this is the case not only for EA SPORTS titles, but for all EA titles period. I am responsible for the titles developed at EA Tiburon. There is another community manager who handles the remaining EA SPORTS titles. Since Utopia College Sports is a site that also covers college basketball and baseball, I have already made it a point to tell my counterpart about your community.
