McKesson and Toshiba Expand Partnership

WEBWIRE

ATLANTA - Building on the success of a radiology imaging partnership launched nine months ago, McKesson has expanded its distribution agreement with Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. to include cardiovascular medical solutions. The new agreement calls for Toshiba to offer Horizon Cardiology™ Hemo, a key component of McKesson’s No. 1 ranked Horizon™ Cardiology solution, as an option with Toshiba’s Infinix™ portfolio of vascular X-ray systems. The combined technology offers healthcare organizations an affordable, turnkey solution to meet evolving clinical workflow and information management needs in the invasive cardiovascular suite.

“Broader industry demand for imaging and information technologies led to our initial agreement, which has been met with overwhelming acceptance from the marketplace,” said Rod O’Reilly, vice president and general manager of McKesson’s Medical Imaging Group. “Our companies enjoy complementary products and a mutual vision to support broadscale adoption of affordable technologies that promote the highest-quality patient care. Cardiology is the next logical step in this progressive business relationship. McKesson and Toshiba expect to continue to introduce products to meet the demands of the market across all modalities.”

McKesson’s Horizon Cardiology Hemo is a key component of McKesson’s Horizon Cardiology complete cardiovascular information solution (CVIS), which was recently ranked No. 1 in the KLAS Cardiology Reporting 2007 report issued by KLAS Enterprises, LLC. The cutting-edge hemodynamic monitoring system enables cardiologists to dramatically expedite patient charting and final reporting by enabling them to review patient vitals side-by-side with real-time patient reporting during interventional procedures. Patient demographics, hemodynamic waveforms, cardiac images and procedural information all flow seamlessly into one complete cardiac patient record. The system eliminates repetitive data entry and gives clinicians the ability to intuitively access information from one location.

“McKesson’s Horizon Medical Imaging and Horizon Cardiology solutions address our customers’ imaging IT needs,” said John Zimmer, vice president, Marketing, Toshiba America Medical Systems. “Backed by the reputation of two industry leaders, we expect continued adoption of our leading applications.”

In July 2006, McKesson and Toshiba signed a distribution agreement to offer McKesson’s No. 1 ranked Horizon Medical Imaging™ picture archiving and communication system (PACS) solution with Toshiba’s innovative diagnostic imaging devices, including the Aquilion™ line of CT scanners. The agreement offers imaging centers and hospitals under 200 beds a turnkey solution that’s affordable, easy to implement and easy to support. The combined diagnostic imaging solution works seamlessly with the Horizon Cardiology solution for CT and MR modalities to continue to offer cost-effective data storage for customers.
