LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With sell-out performances throughout North America and Europe, The Police confirmed a very special performance at Churchill Downs, home of America’s premier horse race, the Kentucky Derby. The Police will perform under Churchill Downs’ famed Twin Spires the evening of Saturday, July 14.

“Churchill Downs is pleased to welcome The Police to perform at the home of the Kentucky Derby,” said Churchill Downs President Steve Sexton. “Last September, we hosted our first major concert and were thrilled with the reaction from concert-goers and the community. We are delighted to again play host to a major concert event that will bring economic benefit to the city and surrounding communities and possibly establish another major event tradition in Louisville. We are also excited to be working with Live Nation and SMG again, and believe this will be another incredible musical experience set against the backdrop of our world-famous Twin Spires.”

From their early beginnings, The Police were hailed as a maverick live band - a group that galvanized an already impressive studio sound into something otherworldly when performing. Combining controlled energy and evocative melodies, Sting, Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers played with the improvisational instincts of a jazz trio and the raw energy of a punk-rock band - a blend that made them one of the definitive rock groups of the 1970s and 1980s.

Special guest Fiction Plane will join The Police for the North American portion of the tour including the Churchill Downs event. Known for their high-energy live shows, this dynamic rock trio will be releasing their second album in May. Members of Fiction Plane include Joe Sumner (Bass), Seton Daunt (Guitar), Pete Wilhoit (Drums).

The North American tour is presented by Best Buy, the leading consumer electronics retailer with nearly 1,000 retail locations in the United States and Canada. Complete details of the Reward Zone program presale can be found at www.bestbuy.com/thepolice. Information about the Canadian concert dates can be found at www.bestbuy.ca/thepolice.

A portion of the proceeds from this tour will be donated to WaterAid, an international NGO founded in 1981 and dedicated to reducing poverty by improving access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene education.
