CA Named A Leader In Records Management In Independent Maeker Analysis

WEBWIRE

CA (NYSE: CA) today announced it was named a “Leader” in the records management market by Forrest Research in the “Forrester Wave™: Records Management, Q1 2007” report.

CA was among nine companies invited by Forrester to participate in the report, which evaluated 12 records management products across 135 criteria. CA had the highest score across multiple criteria for both “Current Offering” and “Strategy,” including top scores for product strategy and vision, application integration, physical records management, reporting and monitoring, record formats, and user experience.

According to Forrester, “CA MDY is a leader in records management because it provides a framework for federated RM along with many packaged integrations to other repositories, strong physical RM capabilities, flexible user interface options and native content analytics.”(1) The report also stated that “The FileSurf product has more packaged integrations with other repositories than any other RM product,” (1) adding that “Customers can choose to manage records in-place in current repositories or to port those records to a FileSurf repository. Such flexibility is a boon for organizations with records that reside in diverse systems that manage heterogeneous types of content and/or are from multiple vendors.”(1)

Forrester stated that “FileSurf began life as a physical RM product and evolved into one that manages both physical and electronic records from a single console. This kind of centralized management pays dividends down the road when organizations conduct internal investigations or respond to discovery requests in litigation.”(1) In addition, the report noted that “The product also has the most Department of Defense (DoD) 5015.2-certified integrations to other repositories—any organization requiring DoD certification for multiple repositories should move FileSurf to the top of its shortlist.”(2)

“Federated records management is a must-have technology for organizations that have information distributed across diverse platforms and applications—yet must still somehow fulfill an ever-growing list of governance, risk and compliance requirements,” said Galina Datskovsky, senior vice president of storage management at CA. “We are proud that Forrester has named CA a leader, and we will continue to help our customers meet these critical business challenges.”

CA MDY FileSurf helps organizations gain control over their physical and electronic records residing in multiple information repositories across the enterprise—including email, content/document management systems and file shares. By automating record-keeping processes, CA MDY FileSurf saves organizations time and money, gives users faster access to information, and helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies. CA MDY FileSurf is certified under the U.S. DoD 5015.2 Standard (Ch. 2 and 4) for records management applications.

CA also was named a “Leader” in “The Forrester Wave™: IT Asset Management, Q3 2006,” Forrester Research Inc., August 4, 2006 and “The Forrester Wave™: Project Portfolio Management (PPM), Q1 2006,” Forrester Research, Inc., March 13, 2006 and named a leading vendor of Service Desk Management Tools in “The Forrester Wave™: Service Desk Management Tools, Q1 2006,” Forrester Research Inc., February 17, 2006.
