LDA launches property sites database for Thames Gateway to bring developers online

WEBWIRE

A database covering billions of pounds of development opportunities in the London Thames Gateway has been launched today.

The London Development Agency (LDA) has published the highly valuable information to help developers pinpoint sites totalling more than 100,000 homes in London’s most important and vibrant development area, next to the Olympic Park site.

Ted Kyzer, LDA Group Director of Olympics and Pan London Infrastructure, said:

"We’ve set a target of 100,000 homes to be built in the London Thames Gateway by 2016 - that means doubling the current rate of construction. As well as speed, we want the very best in quality - world-class design and zero/low - carbon development.

“The 2012 London Games has raised expectations for what we can achieve here. These opportunities must be seized now and this database will help bring more developers and therefore more ideas to the Thames Gateway.”
The database - www.lda.gov.uk/ThamesGateway - flag up possible sites ranging from a few dozen homes to several thousand. It lists the landowner, the site’s size and the stage a site has reached in the planning and construction process.

The LDA has developed the database with the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation and the Thames Gateway London Partnership.
Opportunities for commercial properties in the Thames Gateway will be added later in the year, while the site itself will be regularly updated.
The LDA will be launching a marketing drive in the summer to draw international developers to the opportunities in the Thames Gateway.

Opportunities include

Albert Basin - Gallions Park Zero Carbon Development (1,000 homes)
LDA’s first zero carbon development with a total of 1,000 homes. Last month the LDA chose Crest Nicholson Bioregional Quintain as a partner to develop the first phase of 200 homes.

Later this year, developers will be able to make an expression of interest in developing the other 800 homes in phase two.

Beam Reach 6

The LDA will be seeking expressions of interest within the year in this prominent seven hectare commercial site by A13. Complete master planning of the site will be ready by autumn for a range of high-tech industry uses. The LDA is seeking an emphasis from developers on creativity and a commitment to sustainable design for the 500,000 sq ft development space for small and medium sized units.
