Verso Introduces 4-Wire Verso Verilink WANsuite® 6450 AE

ATLANTA - Verso Technologies, Inc., a global provider of next generation network solutions, has announced the general availability of the Verso Verilink WANsuite 6450AE 4-wire G.SHDSL, a new access device that can serve as an E1 replacement technology primarily in international markets.

The 6450AE 4W is an intelligent integrated access device that manages voice and data applications in an ATM network. It terminates a standards-based Symmetric High-Bit Rate Digital Subscriber Line that originates from a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer and provides interfaces for end users’ communication’s equipment.

Well suited to supporting legacy equipment in a multi application environment, this ATM over SHDSL solution allows for the continued use of existing TDM equipment at the customer’s premise while the ATM network continues to grow and move further toward the network’s edge.

The new offering complements the Verso Verilink 2-wire G.SHDSL, a well-established product that serves as the design basis for the 4-wire. The 4W G.SHDSL enables service providers the ability to emulate circuits on their ATM networks, including DSLAMs, and allows providers to double their distance and create a significantly larger service area.

“Service providers around the world are utilizing G.SHDSL transport technology as a replacement for E1 lines. With 4-wire G.SHDSL technology, those same service providers can extend their reach even further, with the same DSLAM structure. This reduces their transport costs and enables them to geographically reach more customers efficiently and quickly,” said Jim Nevelle, vice president of operations, Verso Technologies.
