DALLAS - Kailight Photonics, an industry leader in the development of advanced optical modules, has announced the industry’s first 40Gb/s transponder that supports Differential Phase-Shift Keying modulation in an industry-standard 300-pin MSA package. The development of the new K-WorksTM TRAN-4800 is the latest addition to Kailight’s K-WorksTM product family.

With Beta samples available in 3Q of 2007, the K-WorksTM TRAN-4800 is designed to support long-haul optical networking applications. Kailight’s newest module will be OIF, SFI-5 compliant and will support a number of standards including OC-768, STM-256 and OTU-3. Additionally, the Transponder provides wavelength tunability over either the “Extended-C” or “L” bands.

“Kailight’s new K-WorksTM TRAN-4800 will round out the company’s 40Gb/s transponder portfolio,” said Sagie Tsadka, CEO of Kailight. “Now system vendors have a single source that can serve all of their 40G transponder needs. Kailight can support short-reach, metro/regional, PMD-limited or long-haul applications with our full range of K-WorksTM Transponders.”
