Microsoft Announces New Package to Extend Microsoft Dynamics ERP Solutions to Microsoft Office Users
Microsoft Corp. announced the upcoming availability of a new offering that will help customers extend the power, insights and process control of their Microsoft Dynamics™ enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications to all employees via familiar business productivity tools in the Microsoft Office system.
This new package, Microsoft Dynamics Client for Microsoft Office and SharePoint® Server, contains a collection of up to 12 self-service applications that are built into the Microsoft Office release and SharePoint products and technologies, as well as a license for the recently released Office SharePoint Server 2007. These applications, such as Time and Attendance for Microsoft Dynamics GP, Project Time and Expense for Microsoft Dynamics SL, Microsoft Dynamics Snap Business Data Lookup for Microsoft Dynamics AX, and FRx® WebPort and DrillDown Viewer™, will simplify access to business information and help connect employees more closely with their company’s business processes. Also included in this new offering are licensing rights for customers or industry partners to build their own Office Business Applications, a new category of programs where Microsoft Office becomes the front end for accessing the back-end ERP functionality of Microsoft Dynamics.
“This new low-cost package is aimed at helping our customers improve the situation they face today, where on average 85 percent of their employees do not have direct access to critical information, such as data on customers, costs, orders, and schedules, contained in their ERP application,*” said Satya Nadella, corporate vice president of the Microsoft Business Solutions Group at Microsoft. “This new offering is another great example of how Microsoft Dynamics is leading the way in building Office Business Applications for our customers. It demonstrates Microsoft’s vision of connecting people across a company with the business processes and information they need to be successful within the context of the productivity tools they use every day.”
Extending Microsoft Dynamics: Platform for Partner and Customer Innovation
Microsoft Dynamics Client for Microsoft Office also provides Microsoft partners with a powerful set of tools to offer innovation for customers. The business productivity capabilities of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, combined with access rights to the ERP functionality in Microsoft Dynamics applications, promote partner development of their own Office Business Applications to meet industry- or customer-specific needs.
InterDyn AKA, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, is already working with customers and realizing benefits from unlocking the information in business applications via Microsoft Office and SharePoint. “Our customers are constantly asking us to deliver applications that are easy to use and fit with the productivity applications with which their employees are already familiar,” said Alan Kahn, managing partner and co-chief executive officer of InterDyn AKA. “This new package provides us with a strong incentive to continue building business applications for Microsoft Dynamics that are based on Microsoft Office and SharePoint technologies.”
Pricing and Availability
This new package has been priced to facilitate companywide deployment. The pricing for Microsoft Dynamics Client for Microsoft Office and Windows® SharePoint Services is $195 (U.S.) per user and Microsoft Dynamics Client for Microsoft Office and SharePoint Server is $395 per user.** Microsoft Dynamics Client for Microsoft Office will be available to Microsoft Dynamics Business Ready Licensing Advanced Management customers. Availability for this licensing package for new customers will begin in May 2007 with Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0, Microsoft Dynamics AX 4.0 and Microsoft Dynamics SL 7. Availability for Microsoft Dynamics NAV will coincide with the 5.1 release.
