RMLS Joins List of Realtor(tm) Secure Organizations

WASHINGTON, June 9 -- The National Association of Realtors(tm) has announced that RMLS, a leading regional Multiple Listing Service in the Pacific Northwest, has achieved REALTOR(tm) Secure certification, which recognizes organizations using the best online security practices in the industry.

RMLS joins the growing number of real estate industry firms that have completed the rigorous REALTOR(tm) Secure program. RMLS successfully demonstrated that it employs policies and procedures to protect real estate, employee and customer information and systems from both internal and external threats, and to prevent business interruptions.

The REALTOR(tm) Secure program was developed by NAR’s Center for REALTOR(tm) Technology and based on security standards from the International Standards Organization and the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The certification demonstrates that an organization has met best practices in addressing the confidentiality, integrity and availability of real estate and consumer information.

“REALTOR(tm) Secure is an important industry initiative. We’ve seen a significant uptake in interest in the program. Security experts, both inside and outside the industry, have praised NAR for taking this active approach,” said Mark Lesswing, NAR vice president of CRT. “RMLS has shown that its executives take security seriously, and that’s what it takes to be a leader in this industry.”
