Eastman Kodak Company introduced two new solutions designed to help professional labs increase their output options, improve efficiencies and maintain quality within the digital workflow. Kodak introduced the offerings today at the Photo Marketing Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition, including a new version of its industry leading KODAK PROFESSIONAL Digital Print Production Software (DP2).

“Digital output in professional labs continues to grow, reaching more than 75 percent in 2006,” said Christopher Van Zandt, General Manager and Vice President, Paper and Output Systems, Americas Region, Eastman Kodak Company. “With this amazing transformation largely completed, now come new challenges, including efficiency, relevance and quality. With our latest offerings, professional labs can offer their customers a broader choice of high quality output options, delivered with even greater efficiency.”

Greater Flexibility/More Efficiency
One of those offerings is KODAK PROFESSIONAL DP2 Software V9. DP2 V9 improves workflow efficiencies and enhances the range of products that professional labs can offer to photographers and their studio customers, while continuing to leverage an open architecture that can link into almost any system or device. Specific enhancements that provide even greater quality, speed and range of output, are:

-Increased Output Capabilities: DP2 V9 provides professional labs with increased output options, both in terms of how the image looks and how it’s printed. Multiple text options and shadowing capabilities allow labs to increase their value-add, while “image grouping” capabilities enable labs to more easily offer options such as photo books and calendars.

-KODAK PROFESSIONAL Auto-Retouching Software: This revolutionary feature, which has enhanced the workflow in many Pro Labs since its launch, offers expanded controls to allow labs to fine tune the parameters and settings to reach the precise level of retouching to meet their needs. With these enhancements, labs can run more of their work through the automatic batch process, resulting in higher quality first-run prints for their photographers.

-RAW File Conversion: Using technology from Bibble Labs, professional labs can now more easily and quickly convert RAW files into the desired .jpeg, .tiff, or .exif file format. Labs can also accept digital images in the highest quality RAW format and use the full information captured by the photographer to set white balance and address exposure problems. This results in the high quality, consistent output for professional lab customers.

KODAK PROFESSIONAL Digital Print Production Software (DP2) V9 will be highlighted at the Kodak June ProLab Workshop held in Rochester, New York, and will be available worldwide beginning early Q3 2007.

New Professional Paper Optimized for Digital Environment
Kodak also delivered the new KODAK SUPRA ENDURA VC Digital Paper, optimized for color digital printing performance in Pro Labs. Specifically designed for professional markets, including portrait and wedding photography, this new paper provides dramatic image quality improvements, enabling professional photographers to deliver to their end customers a visually more appealing end product. The paper features richer colors because of a significantly increased color gamut, yet maintains excellent flesh reproduction for portrait and wedding applications. Additionally, greatly improved digital fringing performance means sharper prints for clearer line and text reproduction. This new paper complements the line of KODAK PROFESSIONAL ENDURA Papers. Kodak will continue to offer KODAK PROFESSIONAL SUPRA ENDURA Paper to customers with optical printing workflows within their operations. Its benefits include: lower replenishment rates, improved responsiveness and longer laser life.

The new KODAK SUPRA ENDURA VC Digital Paper will be available in North America and Europe beginning early Q3 2007
