The fourth edition of GITEX Hyderabad, scheduled to take place at the HITEX Innernational Exhibition Centre in Madhapur from 12th to 14th January 2005, will bring leading Indian and global IT players on a single platform announced the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Honorable Shri Y.S. R. Reddy at a press conference in Hyderabad yesterday (22nd November).

“GITEX Hyderabad has evolved as a premier exhibition for computing and the IT and communications industry as we have been receiving inquiries from both Indian and international IT majors to participate in the event,” said Mr. Reddy.

“A wide spectrum of these includes software developers, hardware manufacturers, solutions providers, telecom equipment manufacturers and hardware and software vendors who have shown a keen interest in the show,” he said.

Commenting on the state of IT within AP, Mr. Reddy said, “As a state we have successfully used IT to attain a position of leadership and excellence and more importantly, we have managed to spread the reach of IT beyond Hyderabad and are looking at developing facilities statewide including second-tier cities such as Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Warangal, Tirupati and Guntur,” Mr. Reddy observed.

India is an established information technology market and a leading source of high quality technical manpower, which combined with high speed connectivity, moderate costs of living, cleand and green environment and political stability have helped in attracting a large numbers of global IT majors into the country in the recent years, many of them to Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking on behalf of the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), Mr. Helal Khalfan Saeed Al Marri said, “India enjoys a unique global comparative advantage as a natural base for the information technology industry and by organizing GITEX in Hyderabad, both DWTC and the Government of Andhra Pradesh hope to bring the world’s leading IT companies and the discerning group of Indian IT majors on a single platform.”

“We are overwhelmed with the positive response this exhibition is generating among key IT and communications players in India and abroad. Many IT organizations operating in India need an internationally-focused venue to showcase their products, a platform that will enable key decision makers in the region to understand how the tools they produce can improve work environments and GITEX Hyderabad offers a solution that works as a true business leads generator,” Mr. Al Marri added.

Mr. Al Marri pointed out that sales of the event have been spurred by the sales tax exemption recently aproved by the GOAP which will prove particularly beneficial for GITEX Hyderabad Computer Shopper, the retail arm of the show which will host leading local and international vendors offering some of the best deals on hardware, software, peripherals, multi-media and a wide range of computer products and services.

Gitex Hyderabad presents the ideal forum for the region to increase its global profile and fuel continued growth and expansion of its IT & C sector. The event is organized by the DWTC in association with the Information Technology & Communications Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh with the objective of providing the region with an opportunity to showcase its immense business potential while offering a solid platform for business transactions and a showcase for new innovations.

GITEX Hyderabad is an excellent platform for companies specializing in IT products and an ideal forum for developing business relationships with key decision-makers, senior officials and IT professionals from both the public and private sector.
