AOL announced today that it has been named the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization’s (WPEO) 2007 Outstanding Corporation for the DC Region.

AOL received the award for its efforts to promote women-owned businesses in the Washington, D.C. area. Last year, AOL increased the number of women-owned businesses with which it has relationships, and reported ten Done Deals – newly signed contracts with women-owned businesses – that year. In addition, AOL has been actively involved in the WPEO certification process for women-owned business, reviewing applications and participating in site visits.

This is the second year AOL has been honored by the WPEO. Last year AOL was the inaugural Corporate Challenge Grand Prize Winner in the WPEO Done Deals Challenge. To learn more about AOL’s diversity efforts, go to http://corp.aol.com/community/diversity.shtml.

Congratulations and thanks to Karin Toth, Program Director, and the members of the Supplier Diversity Team for leading this endeavor.”
