Warner Brothers Records Sign Meg & Dia

WEBWIRE

BURBANK, CA -- Meg & Dia -- consisting of sisters from Draper, Utah, Meg (guitar, vocals) and Dia Frampton (lead vocal), Nick Price (drums), Carlo Gimenez (guitar) and Jonathan Snyder (bass) -- have signed with Warner Bros. Records. The label will take on marketing and distribution of “Something Real,” along with Doghouse Records, who released the band’s indie full-length debut album last year. The album’s first single, “Monster” (which Meg says was inspired by John Steinbeck’s classic novel “East of Eden”) has sold more than 58,000 downloads and the second single, “Roses,” will be released this spring.

The band began attracting attention for their confessional alt-pop and dynamic live performances while appearing on last year’s Warped Tour as the first official MySpace House Band, where they performed two times each day in the MySpace tent. They released “Something Real” on Doghouse Records (the label that discovered All American Rejects and Say Anything), which was co-produced by American Hi-Fi’s Stacy Jones and Bill Lefler, in August 2006. According to Rolling Stone, with its “close, pristine harmonies” and “heavy-hearted tunes,” the album has sold more than 25,000 copies. Since the release, the buzz on Meg & Dia earned the band their network TV debut on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” features in Teen People, Alternative Press, and Rolling Stone (which dubbed them a “New Artist You Should Know About”), and a spotlight on MTV’s “Discover and Download.” In addition, the next single “Roses” is included on the upcoming “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” soundtrack, to be released March 19th.

Meg & Dia are currently out on the road with Anberlin, Bayside, and Jonezetta through May and will join the Vans Warped Tour on June 28th as a headliner on the Volcom stage. They will also appear at the Bamboozle Festival in East Rutherford, NJ, on May 5th alongside Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance.
