Level 3 Coastal Vacations Director Dean Marino Attends Alaska Fur Rondy
Top level Coastal Vacations Director Dean Marino attended one of the largest winter carnivals in North America at Alaskaís Fur Rondy. The annual Anchorage Alaska event dates back to the 1930ís when fur traders would meet in the winter to trade and sell the furs they had trapped.
The Alaska Fur Rondy includes many events, both indoor and outdoor. The events take place in Alaskaís largest city. Coastal Vacations Director Dean Marino enjoyed attending several of the events this year. For the Los Angeles basted level 3 Director, it was the second time he had traveled to Anchorage Alaska for the Fur Rondy.
Alaska Fur Rondy events, including the opening fireworks display, began on February 23. The Grand Parade took place on March 4 and the Alaska Fur Rondy concluded later that evening. Marino enjoyed several events, including dog sled races, fur auctions, outhouse races and the snow sculpture competition. The Los Angeles native showed a keen interest in the co-ed snowshoe softball competition.
Marino noted that the events he attended canít be seen anywhere near his home in Los Angeles. He explained; ďOne of the great things about travel is that I get to experience things that most people just see on TV.
