Photographers Robert Henry and Dirk Hooper to Display Work at the 15th Annual Biting the Apple Art Exhibition

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – March 1, 2007 – The erotic photography of Robert Henry and Dirk Hooper will be included among the works of over 50 artists at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma Annual Biting the Apple Exhibition. Opening night is Friday March 2nd at 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the IAO Gallery Space on Historic Automobile Alley. The following night, Saturday, March 3rd, will be a Fetish Ball also starting at 7p.m. Entrance to both events is $15 a night, or $25 for both nights.

The work from Dirk Hooper and Robert Henry features several models including Toxic Goddess Aello, Toxic Goddess Aries and Toxic Goddess Leila, with makeup by Jennifer Marks. Photographer Robert Henry says, “This year’s theme is the History of Erotica and I did work reminiscent of Greek sculpture, the Victorian era and 30’s noir. It was fun to play in these time periods.” The Biting the Apple exhibition is one of Oklahoma’s only recurring erotic art showcases. “Being in a conservative state, it’s nice to have an event where the local artists can let their hair down and still be acknowledged as contributing an important form of art,” Henry states.

The show will run from March 2nd through March 10th at the IAO Gallery Space, located at 811 North Broadway in downtown Oklahoma City. Dirk Hooper is a world renowned photographer, fine artist, graphic designer and writer whose work has been described as “forbidden tales to rival the likes of H.P. Lovecraft and the Marquis de Sade.” Dirk’s publishing credits include such diverse media as comic books, music CDs and slick fetish magazines. He has also cultivated a reputation as a fine artist in established venues like the prestigious Fred Jones Jr. Art Museum and as an underground visionary in galleries like the Electric Chair and the Dirty Show in Detroit.

Robert Henry has a B.F.A. in Photography with a Sequential Art minor at the Savannah College of Art and Design, in Savannah, Georgia. He has worked as an artist in a variety of media, with photography being his main focus. His artwork, ranging from painting to illustration to photography, has been featured in several galleries from Georgia to Oklahoma. In his work he seeks to create imagery that maintains a fine art aesthetic while also being of solid craftsmanship.

Jennifer Marks has cultivated a career as a vanguard makeup artist by working with world renowned fetish fantasy photographer Dirk Hooper and fine arts photographer Robert Henry. Her work is evocative and groundbreaking while still displaying classic foundational elements.
