PathAway GPS Professional Released - Includes Remote Location Tracking and Monitoring features

Toronto, Canada, Mar 2007 MuskokaTech; a leading provider of GPS Navigation and Mapping Software for handheld PCs, have announced the release of PathAway GPS 4 Professional Edition for Windows Mobile™ handhelds.

PathAway Professional Edition has all of the features of PathAway GPS 4 - Standard Edition plus new features targeted towards power users and professionals. Of significance, PathAway PRO offers 2-way wireless remote location tracking. This enables users to send their location to others, and to monitor where others are, right on their handheld unit. Locations can be sent and received directly via SMS, or sent to a central tracking service. This makes PathAway ideal for activities such as group travel, search and rescue operations, competitive sports, or people and asset tracking.

“Today, more and more communications towers are being installed in remote locations. So remote tracking features that utilize data networks, can now increase travel safety for activities like hiking expeditions, where it’s necessary to keep track of where everyone in the group is”. Says MuskokaTech CEO Scott Northmore, “If one person falls behind due to an injury, the others will be able to see it and respond quickly”.

“PathAway PRO with Remote Location Tracking now extends location monitoring into the field”, adds Scott, “Traditionally, location monitoring has been done from a remote station. This works well on the monitoring side, but when it comes to something like a search and rescue operation, PathAway is ideal, because now the searchers can see the exact location they’re trying to find, and they can see where other searchers are as well. They are not tied to a vehicle with monitor either. With a Windows Mobile phone running PathAway PRO, they can keep in touch at all times whether in a vehicle, or on foot. This makes the operation more efficient and raises the chances of saving lives or recovering valuable assets”.

Additionally, some of the new features for PathAway Professional Edition include: Calculate new Location from relative distance and direction; Left/right, high/low directional alarms; Pace-keeping features for racing, training, or arrival-time scheduling; Import and export of GPX, LOC, or text delimited data; And download maps from the Internet on-the-fly.

“These additional advanced features really set PathAway apart as being an incredibly powerful tool for any type of GPS-enhanced application”, says Scott, “For example, the pace-keeping features are great for the cyclist who needs to monitor a training run; pilots of aircraft or boats can utilize the new alarms and pace-keeping features to notify them if they stray off their planned course and help them make corrections; the avid Geocacher can manage caches on the handheld and easily import new caches and export caches to share with others; the surveyor can track the perimeter of a plot of land and calculate distances and area”.

PathAway GPS 4 Professional Edition is available at for $95.00 US. Existing users can upgrade from Standard Edition for $45 US. Users can download a free 15-day trial version at Free support is provided via online contact form or the PathAway Support Forum.
