News coverage is invited on Friday, June 3 as American Trucking Associations’ President and CEO Bill Graves addresses the Transportation Table, a top Washington, D.C., transportation forum. Governor Graves, head of the nation’s largest trucking industry trade and safety group, will speak on “Trucking and the Economy” and offer ATA’s insights on the current highway reauthorization process, highway safety, the Hours-of-Service issue, environmental demands, national security issues as they relate to trucking and professional truck drivers, and other issues critical to the industry that moves most of America’s freight.

WHY: Trucks move 68 percent of America’s freight safely, efficiently and on time, with 82 percent of all U.S. communities depending solely on trucking for delivery of their goods. Now moving over nine billions of freight annually, trucking is expected to haul 13 billion tons by 2014, dramatically increasing the need for infrastructure improvements to ease congestion, conserve costly diesel fuel, and to safely maintain just-in-time delivery processes now integrated into American manufacturing’s production lines.
