University of California Signs Contract With Xerox for Office Color Printing

For Office Color Printing Xerox to supply UC with color and black-and-white printers, multifunction systems, and fax machines

ROCHESTER, N.Y. and OAKLAND, Calif., Feb. 06, 2007 -- Under a five-year, multimillion-dollar agreement with the University of California, Xerox Corporation’s (NYSE: XRX) broad portfolio of office products and solutions is now available to the university’s 10 statewide campuses, five medical centers and three national laboratories.

The University of California put its printing requirements out to bid in three separate Request For Proposals within the past two years: black-and-white digital copiers, printers and faxes, and office color copiers. Multiple suppliers have been awarded contracts for each product category. Xerox was the only company selected as a preferred document management supplier for all three categories. Xerox will be among several vendors selected to upgrade or replace the University of California’s 8,000 copiers, 12,000 fax machines and 40,000 printers and multifunction systems - which print, copy, fax and scan.

“Xerox’s extensive product line gives the University of California many options to meet the needs of our different departments and campuses,” said Haggai Hisgilov, Executive Director of Strategic Sourcing for the University of California system.

One of the largest state university systems in the United States, the university has more than 208,000 students and 164,000 faculty and staff. It includes 10 campuses: Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Merced, Riverside, San Diego, San Francisco, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.

The UC system manages three U.S. Department of Energy National Laboratories - the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and the Los Alamos National Laboratory. It also operates five medical centers that make it one of the largest healthcare systems in California. These centers are located in Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. The purchasing agreements extend to all of these operations.

Under these agreements, each location can choose from a variety of Xerox CopyCentre™ digital copiers, WorkCentre™ copier-printers, WorkCentre™ Pro advanced multifunction systems, DocuColor™ copier-printers, Phaser™ printers and FaxCentre™ fax machines. These systems range in speed from 4 pages per minute to 110 ppm and offer job-accounting and security features important to people who work in education and healthcare operations.
