DrayTek and Kaspersky Lab Join Forces for Gateway Antivirus Appliance: the VigorPro 5500 UTM

Kaspersky Lab, a leading provider of content management security solutions, and DrayTek Corp. (TSE: 6216), a feature-oriented broadband access solutions provider, partner to provide a boost to small and medium businesses (SMBs) with the release of VigorPro 5500 UTM appliance. Kaspersky SafeStream is an innovative solution that enables ‘on-the-fly’ antivirus scanning that does not require any full file proxying. The Kaspersky SafeStream database is platform independent and is suitable for hardware acceleration. It allows for the implementation of high performance antivirus filters on platforms where traditional antivirus software is not available due to limitations in the architecture, processing power or memory. In order to provide the inline inspection without descending system performance, VigorPro 5500 implements unique Multi-Stack Stateful Inspection (MSSI) scanning technology together with a hardware-accelerated scan engine.

VigorPro 5500 performs Layer 7 packet inspection for matched patterns or protocol anomaly via its embedded signature-based Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP). This means it can block any attacks from viruses, worms, VoIP threats, Trojans, or any other malware hidden inside multiple packets.
