Johan Vanderplaetse will lead Alcatel-Lucent CIS Regional Unit

Moscow, January 15, 2007 — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) today announced that Johan Vanderplaetse will lead the CIS* Regional Unit. Regional Units are staffed with dedicated sales and technical sales support resources that have overall responsibility to conduct the business in their area.

Johan Vanderplaetse will be based in Moscow.

Prior to this appointment, Johan Vanderplaetse was vice-president of Alcatel’s activities in the CIS, with regional responsibility for all marketing, sales and business development operations with Alcatel’s customers in the region.

Johan Vanderplaetse has 12 years of managerial experience in the CIS countries, including 12 years within Alcatel and has been residing in Moscow for 10 years. He joint Alcatel in 1994 and is a graduate of the University of Ghent, Law Faculty,College of Europe of Bruges (Belgium) and the State Institute of Russian language named after A.S.Pushkin (Moscow).

Within Alcatel-Lucent’s CIS organization, two additional appointments are announced:

* Frank Mueller is appointed Head of Alcatel-Lucent in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia. Frank will be based in Kiev, Ukraine.
* Askar Nasiev is appointed Head of Alcatel-Lucent in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan. Askar will be based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Prior to this appointment Askar was head of Lucent’s activities in Kazakhstan.
