Black Crowes Performing for the First Time Since October 2001

CHARLOTTE, NC -- Miller Brewing Company will celebrate Rusty Wallace’s final season racing by inviting legal drinking age race fans to Lowe’s Motor Speedway this Saturday, May 21 for a landmark free concert by the Black Crowes, as part of the Miller Lite Rock’n Racing Concert Series.

The show, one of the first performances by the Black Crowes since October 2001, will be held on the afternoon of the NEXTEL All-Star race in the Lowe’s Motor Speedway infield at 3 p.m.; gates open at 2 p.m. Race fans with tickets to the day’s race will have access to the infield to see the show and will also have the opportunity to win VIP access through a variety of promotions Miller will execute around the event. Wallace will be present at the concert, addressing his loyal fans and introducing the Black Crowes.

Since they roared out of the gate with their multi-platinum debut album “Shake Your Moneymaker” in 1990, The Black Crowes have played by their own rules, earning them the title of “The Most Rock ’N Roll Rock ’N Roll Band In The World.” Their critically acclaimed six studio albums have racked up worldwide album sales exceeding 19 million. Performing over 2,000 shows between 1990 and 2001, The Black Crowes are one of the few contemporary bands who’ve shared the stage with Jimmy Page, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Who, Neil Young, The Grateful Dead and many other legendary artists. The Black Crowes -- Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien (bass) and Bill Dobrow (drums) -- have returned (for the first time since October 2001) to share “15 Years of Cosmic Rock-n-Roll” with their devoted fans for a run of headlining dates through the spring.

“We couldn’t be more excited about honoring Rusty with this concert,” says Jonathan Gibson, Senior Marketing Manager Miller Brewing Company. “Only a show by a band like the Black Crowes is fitting for Rusty’s Last Call. This is shaping up to be an historic day at Lowe’s Motor Speedway.”

Rusty Wallace, currently in the top ten in the NEXTEL Cup points standings, is culminating a driving career that includes 16 years with Miller Brewing Company, 55 career victories and over $44 million in earnings.

“It’ll be bittersweet to say goodbye to racing and my great friends at Miller at the end of the year,” says Wallace. “But it’s still early in the season and I’ve got a lot of racing left in me. The Black Crowes show at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway is one event I am truly looking forward to enjoying.”

The concert will take place within the infield of the speedway, between turns one and two, and will commence at 3 p.m.

Miller Lite is the official beer sponsor of Lowe’s Motor Speedway.
