January 10, 2007 - ATLANTA – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today introduced the NCR RealPOS 80XRT point-of-sale (POS) workstation, designed to extend POS capabilities without slowing mission-critical transaction processing. “NCR is a leader in utilizing Intel vPro technology at the point of service, applying the performance of Intel Core 2 Duo processors and the remote management capabilities of Intel vPro technology to today’s dynamic retail environment,” said Ton Steenman, vice president, Digital Enterprise Group, and general manager, Infrastructure Processor Division at Intel Corporation. “With powerful energy-efficient performance and the ability to execute multiple tasks at once without slowing down, the Intel Core 2 Duo processor at the heart of the NCR RealPOS 80XRT enables powerful new retail applications to execute simultaneously.”

“The RealPOS 80XRT is ideal for customer intelligence programs, streaming-video ads and graphics-rich promotions. When configured as both a POS workstation and a server, it can run back-office applications in addition to front-end POS software without slowing down mission-critical transaction processing,” Egan added. “Additionally, the workstation/server configuration can reduce the in-store infrastructure by eliminating the need for server hardware.”

The NCR RealPOS 80XRT runs on the latest Microsoft operating systems, including Microsoft Windows® Embedded for Point of Service, Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Embedded, and will offer future support for Windows Vista. NCR will also offer SUSE® Linux Enterprise for Point of Service from Novell.
