BASF at Fruit Logistica 2007 in Berlin: Products for the entire value chain of fresh produce

WEBWIRE

BASF will exhibit for the second time at the international trade fair for fruit and vegetable marketing “Fruit Logistica”, taking place February 8 till 10 2007 in Berlin. With its products and services BASF is presenting itself as a capable partner for the entire fresh produce value chain - from production to retail of fruits and vegetables.

The combination of a global presence with local experience and a broad knowledge of production holds benefits for the whole value chain of fresh produce. Apart from its high-quality crop-protection agents, BASF also offers innovative products for post-harvest processing, packaging and logistics associated with the production of fruit and vegetables.

A coating with FreshSeal®, the new post-harvest treatment that controls respiration, renders fruit and vegetables less perishable, prolonging shelf-life. FreshSeal® can also reduce the use of wax and various protective coverings.

A new generation of thermoplastic elastomers becomes available with Styroflex®. In the stretch-packaging range, Styroflex® offers new possibilities. Its superior elasticity and resilience erase all previous limitations.

Ecoflex® and Ecovio® were developed specifically for applications in the field of flexible films. These films are completely biodegradable, opening new prospects for the dealing with packaging material. Films of Ecoflex®, for example, are used in the mulching of corn, lettuce and strawberries as well as in packaging fast foods.

The Ecological Efficiency Analysis of BASF is a tool of strategic evaluation in comparing production concepts by economy and sustainability. All economic and environmental impacts are investigated holistic from the vantage point of the final customer.
