December 27, 2006, SANTA ANA, Calif. The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), America’s largest provider of business information, was recently named to the InfoWorld 100, InfoWorld Magazine’s highest honor for information technology (IT) operations consolidation. The annual awards honor IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further their business goals. Business Technology Optimization (BTO) software from HP (NYSE: HPQ) was at the foundation of First American’s winning IT operations consolidation project that was recognized by the editors of InfoWorld.

The First American project included the implementation of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)-based processes to keep focus on business outcomes while streamlining operations. HP Software BTO offerings were implemented to provide increased visibility into the infrastructure and help First American understand how changes and new applications will behave, function and perform throughout the consolidation process.

First American consolidated its IT infrastructure to provide better service to its various business units and help scale the business while effectively managing the complexity of its burgeoning technology infrastructure. BTO offerings from HP help the company maintain focus on business outcomes while streamlining operations.

“Every day, First American uses technology to be more competitive and to provide the best possible service to our customers,” said Evan Jafa, chief technology officer of The First American Corporation. “We are honored to be recognized by InfoWorld for our innovative IT approaches. HP’s Business Technology Optimization strategy is central to our thinking, and we rely on HP offerings to continue to help First American drive positive business outcomes from IT.”

InfoWorld 100 awards honor IT projects that demonstrate the most creative use of cutting-edge technologies to further their business goals. Nominations were submitted by InfoWorld readers, technology partners and end-user companies in late summer 2006. To be considered, projects must stretch beyond typical “off-the-shelf” solutions and must use multiple technologies in innovative ways to serve well-defined business goals. InfoWorld 100 winners are posted on InfoWorld.com and in the print edition of InfoWorld. First American was the only real estate information and services company to receive a 2006 InfoWorld 100 award.
