Mazda Launches Special Edition ’Atenza,’ ’MPV’ and ’Verisa’ Models in Japan

- The second set in the Stylish Tone Series feature exclusive body colors and special interior designs -

December 22, 2006 - HIROSHIMA, Japan--Mazda Motor Corporation today announced the launch of special edition models of the Mazda Atenza, Mazda MPV and Mazda Verisa for the Japanese domestic market. All models come with an exclusive body color and interior design and go on sale nationwide at all Mazda and Mazda Anfini dealers from today. The MPV and Verisa models are also available at all Mazda Autozam dealers. The Mazda Atenza includes a choice of three body types: Sedan, Sport and Sport Wagon.

These special edition models are new additions to the Stylish Tone Series, products with a stylish atmosphere and color scheme. Their addition expands the series from the original and popular Mazda Demio Casual, Demio Sport and Mazda Axela Sport special edition models.

The special edition Atenza Sport and Sport Wagon are both denoted as the ’23SS’ grade and are based on the 23S Sport model. Each have undergone styling improvements to enhance their sporty appeal and quality, including the use of black and gray seat upholstery and door trim, an exclusive jet black-colored center panel and chrome outer door handles. Additionally, a fully-adjustable power driver’s seat, rain sensing wipers and Mazda’s autolight system have been added to further elevate comfort levels. The Atenza Sedan 20ES special edition model, based on the premium 20S model with a 2.0-liter engine, boasts the features listed above as well as the exclusive Sparkling Silver Metallic body color, a black wood-grained center panel and 16-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels, which further boost the base model’s premium quality and comfort levels.

The concept for the special edition MPV 23C L Style is “adult luxury.” Enhanced from the base model 23C version through the addition of special equipment, the interior is furnished with exclusively designed half-leather seats (wine red leather and black fabric), a black wood-grained automatic transmission (AT) shift panel and front power window switch panel, chrome-finished parts, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob. When accentuated by the sparkling chrome, the chic colors and atmosphere created by the leather and wood-grained parts significantly raises the quality feel above that of the base model.

The special edition Verisa T Style builds on the leather interior features of the Verisa L model grade. The exterior is coated with the exclusive deep green Highland Green Mica body color. Also specially designed is the black and sand beige color combination in the interior, which stretches to the leather seats, door trim, instrument panel and leather-wrapped steering wheel. With these features, the T Style achieves a more radiant color tone while maintaining the Verisa’s high-quality and stylish atmosphere present in the rest of the model range.

Body colors
There is a choice of four body colors that emphasize the sporty and high-quality feel. Starting with the dark blue Stormy Blue Mica, there are Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Titanium Gray Metallic II and Black Mica.

Atenza Sedan 20E (2.0-liter DOHC engine, FWD with electronically-controlled 5-speed AT)

Sparkling Silver Metallic is available as an exclusive color to enhance the premium feel of this model. Also, from the existing Atenza range, Snowflake White Pearl Mica, Silver Contrail Metallic, Black Mica and Radiant Ebony Mica are available, making a total of five color choices.

Verisa L (equipped with a 1.5-liter DOHC engine with either FWD or e-4WD electronically-controlled 4-speed AT)

Special equipment
- Exclusively designed interior
The seats and steering wheel cover are a combination of sand beige and black genuine leather. The door trim is sand beige synthetic leather, and sand beige resin is used for the top part of the instrument panel.
- 15-inch alloy wheels (usually offered as a factory-installed option)

Body colors
Deep green Highland Green Mica is available as an exclusive color and it is available for the first time in Japan. Added to the Verisa’s existing color range of Radiant Ebony Mica, Icy Blue Metallic and Stormy Blue Mica, there is a total of four body color options.
