Hong Kong and San Jose, Calif. – Dec. 21, 2006 – BEA Systems, a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, announced that BEA is a leader in the Application Server Software Platform (ASSP) market in Asia-Pacific region. BEA ranked first in market share in Australia, China, Singapore and Thailand, and ranked top three for most other countries in 2005, according to analyst firm IDC (See report titled “Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) Application Server and Integration Server Platform Market Analysis and Forecast 2005-2010”).

According to IDC, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) has risen to the forefront as a rallying point for deployment software and can become a greater driving force as traction and extension into the enterprise gains momentum.

BEA’s SOA strategy is based on the notion of helping customers achieve Business LiquidITy™ by delivering the industry’s most unified SOA platform, BEA SOA 360°, which is designed to enable business transformation and optimization. BEA SOA 360° platform spans all three BEA product families – Tuxedo®, WebLogic® and AquaLogic® – and is supported by the newly previewed SOA collaborative tooling environment, BEA WorkSpace 360o.

In a recent IDC SOA survey conducted in Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) covering over 600 companies in eight major countries and regions including include Australia, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Mainland China, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand (See report titled “IDC AP SOA Study: Understanding the Buying Behavior and Adoption Trends in Asia/Pacific, 2006”), five per cent of the companies surveyed are currently deploying SOA, while 43 percent are considering deploying SOA in one to two years.

“The IDC survey, together with BEA’s financial performance in the region, serves as strong indication of customers’ association with BEA for their software infrastructure needs in Asia Pacific,” said Steve Au Yeung, senior vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific Region, BEA Systems. “Our market strength and growth in the region shows SOA market adoption across regional markets including Australia, China, India, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand, that in turn, is driving demand across our entire product portfolio.”

“BEA is committed to providing innovative products and services, a combination that is intensifying as BEA continues to deliver and execute against its reputation for providing customers with the best products and solutions via strong effective channel strategies designed to help empower enterprises to reap the benefits of SOA.”

Key new customers in Asia Pacific include China Construction Bank, China Mobile and China Power, Life Insurance Corporation, Tata Teleservices Limited, Indian National Stock Exchange, SBI Life, Indian Railways, Share Khan, ICICI, Korean Military Manpower Administration, Dacom, Korea Investment and Securities, Korea Electric Power Corporation and EMCSG.

BEA Systems has been recognized by partners and customers for its SOA policy. MIS Asia, Asia’s leading IT management magazine, named BEA System in its Strategic 100, saying the company is increasingly perceived as the authority on SOA. BEA Systems also won three awards in the annual China Computerworld Awards and has also been recognized by the Chinese Institute of Electronics, Computer PartnerWorld, and Computer Business Information.
