Registered Beta Testers Save $30 on Premium Service

CUPERTINO, Calif. – Dec. 20, 2006 – Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced the availability of public beta of Norton 360 for the Windows Vista operating system. Consumers who are currently running the shipping version of Vista (build 6000) can now deploy Symantec’s new all-in-one consumer security service. Norton 360 combines Symantec’s trusted, industry-leading PC security and tuneup technologies, along with new automated local and online backup, as well as transaction security capabilities. The beta of Norton 360 for Windows Vista is available for public download at http://www.norton.com/norton360beta/.

People who register for the Norton 360 public beta by Jan. 15, 2007, can take advantage of a special offer to receive a $30.00 discount off the purchase price of the download version of this premium solution upon its availability. For more information on the promotion, please visit http://www.norton.com/norton360beta/betacenter/.

“In today’s fast-evolving threat landscape, computer users need smart, manageable security that provides layers of protection beyond the basics,” said Enrique Salem, group president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec Corp. “Since the Vista operating system is not a security solution and only includes some of the basics, consumers need a solution like Norton 360 for comprehensive protection.”

The company also recently announced beta versions of Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus, which support the Vista platform. The final Vista-compatible versions of Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus are expected to be available immediately at the launch of Vista on Jan. 30, 2007.

For the suggested retail price of $79.99 (includes one-year service subscription to use the product and receive Symantec protection updates), customers receive Symantec’s advanced PC and transaction security technologies in addition to PC tuneup capabilities that can help keep their systems running at peak performance. Norton 360 users also receive backup and restore functionality, including 2 gigabytes of online secure storage space. The product can be installed on up to three PCs per household.

The final version of Norton 360, which will be Windows XP and Vista compatible, is scheduled to be available by March 2007 through the Symantec online store at www.symantecstore.com, as well as at various retail locations and online retailers.
