· Compact design and low weight for fatigue-free work and outstanding handling

· Long lifetime due to robust stamped metal base plate and die-cast aluminum protective guard

· Optimized sight management for a constantly clear view of the saw blade and cutting line

With the GKS 160 Professional, Bosch launches its first, entry-level hand-held circular saw for the professional user. The compact design, low weight of only 3.6 kg and optimized handle ergonomics allow for excellent handling, for example when cutting roofing boards to length. A 1050-watt motor offers high power for rapid work progress: an great advantage when sawing solid wood. A stamped metal sole plate and the protective guard made of die-cast aluminum provide the tool with the robustness required for the rough conditions on a jobsite. The GKS 160 Professional is the ideal hand-held circular saw for daily use by skilled construction site workers, such as carpenters, roofers, exhibition fitters and shop fitters.

Optimized sight management provides the user with a constantly clear view of the saw blade and cutting line during sawing – and this from both sides of the blade. The dust port is designed in such a way that sawdust and chips are blown out to the side – past the workpiece and the user. Bosch supplies a dust extraction adapter as standard for working with an all purpose vacuum cleaner.

54 millimeters cutting depth allows the user to employ the GKS 160 Professional in a variety of sawing applications on the construction site; for example sawing board materials or narrow square timbers to length. The user conveniently sets the cutting depth using the non-slip, quick-clamping lever. When doing so, the durable depth scale is always easy to read, even after lengthy periods of use. Precise bevel setting has never been easier thanks to an easy-to-read white scale on a black background. The bevelling function is further enhanced by an infinitely variable cutting angle system made possible by the dual angle guide. Locking the desired angle in place is a breeze with the large locking thumb screws. These features facilitate sawing at accurate angles, even when performing long rip cuts. The switch lock-on button can be operated from either side of the handle, which increases user safety and the comfort level of both right- and left-handed users. Saw blade changes are made easier by an easy-to-reach spindle lock. The GKS 160 Professional saw will be available at specialist retail outlets from January 2007 on.
