New Library, Advanced Design System Help Speed Next-Generation Mobile Communications Product Development

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 18, 2006

Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the availability of the 3GPP LTE Wireless Library for use with the company’s Advanced Design System (ADS) EDA software. The new library helps wireless-systems designers and verification engineers speed development of the evolving 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) designs for next-generation mobile communications products.

The 3GPP LTE wireless library is based on Release 8 of the 3GPP standard documents for the next generation of mobile communication products. It works within the ADS environment and with the Agilent Ptolemy simulator to streamline the design and verification process. The library provides preconfigured simulation setups with signal sources for downlink and uplink, along with transmitter analyses such as spectrum, complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) and waveform measurements.

“Keeping current with the latest standards helps our customers verify their designs earlier and saves months of design work in many cases,” said Afshin Amini, product marketing manager with Agilent’s EEsof EDA division. “Our ongoing collaboration with 3GPP LTE industry leaders gives designers an excellent reference standard for verifying designs against evolving specifications. Future releases of this library will track the standard and include analysis capabilities such as error vector magnitude (EVM) and bit error rate (BER) measurements.”
