Featuring major titles Halo 2, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and Dead or Alive 4 competitions, the EGL – D.C. tournament will boast diverse game play and professional competition from more than 50 teams and 250 players.
“The D.C. tournament is one of our most ambitious venues yet and promises to be a real battle of wits,” says EGL Tournament Director Ryan Baron. “We’re expecting to see some of the most intense gaming of the season. We’ve got people coming from all over the east coast to either make a name for themselves or defend their reputations. The area is known for fostering some the world’s elites and it’s definitely going to be a shootout.”

At the cessation of the regional tour in May, the top teams and individuals will be invited face-off at the 2006-07 post-season finals in Los Vegas to contend for the national EGL Title and up to $15,000 in cash.
“I think we’re going to see some surprises,” says Baron. “Careers are can be both won and lost here. These guys have a lot of talent they’re brining to the table and we’ll who to see who really steps it up.”
As the freshest name in professional gaming, EGL is raising the bar in e-sports, mobilizing the best local and national competitors in concert to redefine the playing field for the next generation of true cyber-athletes. Throughout the season, EGL will maintain an online e-chronicle on the league’s site featuring video-stream player interviews, highlights, depth and statistic charts, and play-by-play video screenshots.
