300 million euro maintenance contract for Shell

WEBWIRE

12 December 2006 - Gouda, the Netherlands - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has won in competition a five-year technological maintenance contract worth about 300 million euro for the locations Shell Pernis and Shell Moerdijk.

Pernis, near Rotterdam in the Netherlands, is the location of Shell Nederland Raffinaderij, one of the world’s largest refineries. Crude petroleum is processed here into oil products and semi-manufactured chemical products. Some of these semi-manufactured products are processed further by Shell Nederland Chemie, both in Pernis and at the Shell location in Moerdijk. At both locations, technology plays an important role in achieving the desired production capacity in an environmentally responsible and reliable manner. For this reason, professional and socially responsible maintenance is extremely important for Shell, its customers and the people living in the vicinity of both production locations.

For the coming five years, from 2007 to 2011, Imtech (Imtech Industry, specialised in industrial services), which was already active to some extent at the two locations, has won two separate maintenance contracts at both Shell Pernis and Shell Moerdijk, commissioned by Shell Nederland Raffinaderij and Shell Nederland Chemie:

* a contract for E&I work (electrical engineering and instrumentation) in relation to preventive and corrective maintenance, upgrading, improvement, turnarounds and technical projects;
* a contract for mechanical and civil engineering work in the form of preventive and corrective maintenance, stops, turnarounds and modifications. At the Shell Pernis location, Imtech will collaborate with GTI for this part of the contract.

These contracts represent a total value of about 300 million euro for Imtech, depending on the exact technical scope in terms of time. This is the largest multidisciplinary industrial maintenance contract in the Netherlands. Because of its size, the Shell contract provides Imtech with an important level of continuity in the Dutch industrial market for the coming years.

Imtech will operate on the basis of a performance contract with clear measurement parameters for safety and the environment. Important fundamental aspects here are:

* optimum collaboration with Shell, focusing on continuous improvement;
* the guarantee of the structural availability of qualified technical specialists;
* the provision of a transparent cost structure.
