Altobridge Maritime Security Solution Honoured with Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award

Groundbreaking AM Gateway Platform™ is same Core Technology as new Aeronautical Solution for Emirates

London, 6 December, 2006 – Leading Remote Communications company, Altobridge (www.altobridge.com), accepted its 2006 Frost & Sullivan Technology Innovation Award in the field of Homeland Security for Container Applications at a ceremony last night held in London, and hosted by the world leading consulting group.

In his acceptance speech, Altobridge Director Maritime, Stephen Brunskill, told the distinguished audience of leading technological innovators, that the award had come after years of dedicated R&D, resulting in a new communications bridge across standard satellite and wireless networks meeting the unique requirements of the Aeronautical, Maritime, Remote Community and First Responder/Military markets.

The company’s pioneering multi-layered communications gateway solution — the AM Gateway Platform™— has significantly enhanced maritime security as a high-performance, cost-effective system that, in the words of an earlier F&S statement: “sucessfully bridges the communications gap between ships at sea and container transporting authorities”.

Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst, Ashwini Meena, in describing how Altobridge’s onboard network connects back to the terrestrial telecommunication network via a ship’s existing legacy satellite system cost effectively, explained that this is enabled by the unique and patented ‘On-Demand’ capability of the AM Gateway Platform.

Stephen Brunskill explained that: “The globe is almost covered by standard wireless communications and as billions of users are driving down the cost of chip sets, it makes perfect sense that the gap in security between ports should be plugged by the same cost-effective standard wireless communications as the terrestrial world has come to depend on. Our job in Altobridge was to get a solution to market that made commercial sense, and this solution removes subsidies as the only way to enhance maritime security. With our solution, standard terrestrial monitoring devices can now be used onboard, offering automatic or two-way interrogation of these devices.”

He then highlighted the success of the gateway by citing a recent announcement: “Many of you may have seen the recent news from Emirates announcing that they will be the first airline to launch standard mobile communications service onboard aircraft. The core technology at the heart of this in-flight mobile phone system is the Altobridge AM Gateway Platformä for which we are being presented with tonight’s award.”
