Report Cites All-Around Competence Across Different SIM Functions; Network Intelligence Called “An Excellent Solution” for Security Programs

Bedford, MA, Tuesday, December 05, 2006 — RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC), today announced that Network Intelligence was recognized as a leader in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Security Information Management, Q4 2006 (December 2006) report by Forrester Research, an independent technology and market research company. In the report, Forrester analyst Paul Stamp wrote: “Network Intelligence enVision’s all-around competence across different security information management (SIM) functions earns it the best marks for a current offering among the evaluated vendors.”

The Forrester Wave report, published on December 5, 2006, noted: “Network Intelligence’s biggest selling point is its ability to capture and process huge amounts of data. Its architecture is designed to manage large system and application logs centrally and thus provides security analysts with a wealth of data to investigate security incidents quickly.” The report also stated, “New owner EMC’s overall strategy for security information management, in conjunction with its RSA acquisition, looks very promising.”

As companies recognize the need to manage and protect both information and transactions, there is a growing focus on moving beyond perimeter-centric security. By adopting an information-centric security strategy, companies can assess risk; secure people, data, and infrastructure; and leverage compliance and security information to assure policy compliance, which bolsters the organization’s overall security posture.

“Companies worldwide face the mounting challenge of making sense of huge amounts of security and compliance information generated across the entire enterprise, and around the world,” said Jim Melvin, vice president of marketing at RSA. “By delivering a single platform that enables customers to transform this enterprise-wide data into automated compliance and security information, RSA helps companies to assure compliance and improve enterprise security.”
A Platform for Customer Success

Cyberklix, a reseller based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada built part of its managed security service offering around the Network Intelligence solution.

“Our customers are looking for an enterprise-wide platform for their security and compliance operations. Once customers see the wealth of data available through the Network Intelligence solution, they understand how it can be useful, and organizations value the support we offer in helping them to manage the vital information,” said John Menezes, president and CEO of Cyberklix. “We’ve built a whole managed security service around this product and are able to offer our customers the ability to collect and manage security events across the network, scaling with them as they grow.”

Backed by the LogSmart® Internet Protocol Database™ (IPDB), the Network Intelligence technology is designed to efficiently collect and protect all the data, from any IP device, without filtering or agents. By capturing all the data, customers have the ability to track, detect and mitigate known and unknown vulnerabilities from their enterprise networks, enabling organizations to analyze security in real time, and over time. In addition, because the product is engineered to have out-of-the-box integration with networked storage platforms such as EMC® Centera™ and EMC Celerra®, Network Intelligence’s solution enables customers to cost effectively store their critical information to meet compliance requirements.
