Teamcenter’s Utilization of Microsoft’s Smart Client Software will Facilitate PLM Access and “Deliver the Value of PLM to the Masses” Via the Microsoft Platform

Thursday, November 30, 2006 - NEW YORK – UGS Corp., a global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced integration of its world-class suite of PLM software solutions with the 2007 Microsoft Office system and the Windows Vista operating system. The ability to use the familiar Microsoft Office 2007 interface as a smart client front-end for UGS’ family of PLM offerings will significantly accelerate adoption of UGS® software by non-traditional users within a company’s extended enterprise and throughout its value chain.

UGS made the announcement today following Microsoft Corp.’s New Day for Business press conference in New York City.

“Our strategic relationship with UGS combined with our redesigned desktop experience places the PLM information people need to drive business success at their fingertips,” said Simon Witts, corporate vice president, Enterprise & Partner Group, Microsoft Corp. “UGS products running with Microsoft 2007 Office system and Windows Vista, enable manufacturing companies to extend the power of PLM far beyond the engineering and manufacturing departments so that people in purchasing, operations, sales and marketing can collaborate on product information and build connections with outside suppliers and customers.”

World-class PLM access; familiar desktop environment
UGS will integrate its entire suite of PLM offerings with the Windows Vista operating system environment. UGS has worked closely with Microsoft to develop tools that enable people throughout a company’s global innovation network to view actual PLM content from UGS applications on the Windows Vista desktop. UGS’ industry-leading product family includes:

* Teamcenter® portfolio– the world’s most widely used PLM portfolio for digital lifecycle management
* NX® software – comprehensive, integrated 3D computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) for digital product development
* Solid Edge® software – powerful 3D CAD software for digital product development
* Tecnomatix™ software – an integrated family of software for digital manufacturing

UGS Velocity Series™ portfolio – an enterprise-level PLM solution for the mid-market customer
In addition, Teamcenter will be tightly integrated with the 2007 Microsoft Office system to utilize smart client software to deliver PLM data directly to any authorized desktop within the familiar Microsoft environment. Built to take advantage of new technologies, smart client software delivers both the flexibility and immediacy that comes with online access to data and applications, and the full functionality of traditional client software, thus combining the reach of the Internet with the power of local computing hardware.

“By making access to product data more pervasive throughout the extended enterprise, UGS and Microsoft are demonstrating a common vision for how software will revolutionize product development,” said Chris Kelley, vice president of Partnerships and Platforms, UGS. “Our strategic alliance announced earlier this year is enabling UGS to take full advantage of the Microsoft software platform and deliver the value of PLM to the masses. Our support for the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Windows Vista will deliver real business benefits to our customers who have embraced the Microsoft environment.”
