Southern Weekend ranks Motorola China number two citing investment, performance and brand recognition as driving factors
Beijing, China – 27 November, 2006 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) a global leader in wireless and broadband communications, announced today that Southern Weekend, an influential Chinese business newspaper, rated Motorola the number two spot in its survey of Most Influential Fortune 500 Companies operating in China. It also ranked Motorola highest in a list of Best-Performing Fortune 500 Companies.
Southern Weekend has a circulation of 1.3 million. It conducts an annual poll of Fortune 500 Companies operating in China citing financial performance, investment in China, regional contributions, corporate social responsibility and brand recognition as criteria. Motorola moved up the list from the number four spot in 2005.
Southern Weekend used specific parameters to gauge the Fortune 500 companies doing business in China. “This is truly an honor and recognizes Motorola’s firm commitment to investing, transferring technologies and building local manufacturing and R&D capabilities in China, which will provide China with the advanced communications solutions it needs to continue to be a major player and driver in the global economy,” said Ruey Bin Kao, president of Motorola (China) Electronics Ltd.
