Sierra Wireless AirCard® 850 wireless data card now available from O2 UK


November 27, 2006 - Vancouver, Canada and London, United Kingdom – Sierra Wireless (NASDAQ: SWIR - TSX: SW) and O2 UK today announced that O2 has selected the Sierra Wireless AirCard® 850 wireless wide area PC Card to provide 3G network access for customers in the United Kingdom. With the AirCard 850, O2 customers have high-speed wireless connectivity to 3G networks across Europe, providing access to their email, the Internet, and online applications at broadband speeds.

The AirCard 850 data card is available today from O2 through the company’s business and retail channels and online at Sierra Wireless, O2, and Manx Telecom previously collaborated to launch AirCard 850 data cards on Manx Telecom’s network on the Isle of Man.

AirCard® 850
The AirCard 850 is manufactured by Sierra Wireless and is a 3G wireless WAN Type II PC Card with a slim, unextended design, allowing users to conveniently store the card inside the laptop. Fully functional on HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, and GPRS networks, the card utilizes the 2100 MHz UMTS frequency band and is targeted primarily for use in Europe, offering average data rates of 500 to 800 kbps, with bursts over 1 Mbps on HSDPA networks*. In areas where HSDPA or UMTS network coverage is not available, the card will connect to EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks and enable international roaming on all four frequency bands (850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz) used worldwide.
