More dialing options: Siemens Gigaset S450 IP offers up to four VoIP numbers and combines fixed-line and Internet telephony

Munich, Nov 27, 2006 - The new Siemens Gigaset S450 IP cordless phone is truly a versatile handset, ideal for families and small businesses. It offers practical features, combining ease of use with ergonomic design, as well as allowing low cost calls via the Internet without having to use a PC. The Gigaset S450 IP can work on either a local area network (LAN) or analogue fixed-line connection – this means that it can be used as a traditional phone and to make calls over the Internet. When additional handsets are connected, two separate calls can be made at the same time. The Gigaset S450 IP is available in stores now.

The Gigaset S450 IP is ideal for home use or for small businesses that often need to be able to use more than one line. It can support up to six handsets at any one time, and in addition to a traditional phone line connection, users can program up to four different numbers for calls using Voice over IP (VoIP). Users therefore have a total of five possible phone numbers, which can be assigned to different handsets individually. A further advantage with the Gigaset S450 IP is that two people can talk via the Internet at any one time, too – something that was only previously possible using an ISDN connection.

Installing and configuring the phone is simple – users do not need to log-on to a PC but simply use the handset to download the relevant service provider settings. At the touch of a button, users can switch between making an Internet or a traditional landline call and can expect the same quality no matter which option they choose.

The phone has a broad and practical range of features, including call forwarding, redial and call back – as well as the ability to set-up three-way conference calls at the push of a button. It can also store up to 150 contact entries and has an integrated speaker that offers superior voice quality.

The Gigaset S450 IP has a large color display (128 x 128 pixels) that allows users to see details of incoming emails such as ‘subject’ and ‘sender’ information, making reading and keeping an eye on new messages easy without having to constantly refer to a PC. It also comes with advanced messaging functionality, allowing users to be able to access contact lists and send and receive instant messages via the handset. The Gigaset S450 IP has five volume levels that can be easily adjusted, and a standard headphone socket for connecting to a mono headset.

The Gigaset S450 IP will hit the stores in November, in Platinum and Titanium versions, priced at 129.99 Euro. Users can also purchase an additional handset and charger, the Gigaset S45, which is priced at 79.99 Euro.
