Daniel Corby CEO of 118 Group announces ethics committee ahead of floatation plans
Speaking about the announcement, Daniel Corby said “Over the last 6 months or so, we have started to think and act like a plc ahead of our planned AIM float for 2008. One of the decent things to do ahead of any float plan is to act as though we are a plc now. This includes the appointment of an ethics committee, which will meet once a month and report to the board on the way we handle relationships with customers, shareholders, staff and suppliers. It will be an in-depth review and will be chaired by a former high ranking trading standards officer, who remains a member of the Trading Standards Institute.
The business has grown incredibility quickly in the last 18 months and now has interests in Advertising, Directories, Media, Mobile, Publishing and Telecoms. The group has month alone taken on an additional 100 staff and expects to be a top 5 employer in Chelmsford within 6 months.
Other recent high profile appointments to the business have included Richard Allan, the former CEO of Perry Group plc, Hugh Craen, the founder and mastermind of Potential Finance Group plc which floated on AIM in 2002, Peter Hill as Group FD, who joined the business following a career with Dorma Doors and ME Media Limited and Scott Barker from World Pay and Meta Charge as Head of Risk.
The company has recently signed distribution agreements with all 6 mobile phone networks in the UK and expects to become a significant reseller of mobile phone contracts to rival established names such as Dial-a-phone and the networks direct operations. The first advertising campaigns commence on 15 November in the Sun newspaper.
