New product lowers operational costs by efficiently automating management of device parameters

MELBOURNE, Florida, November 8, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a leading global provider of turnkey resource management and service assurance systems, today introduced NetBoss Agent Manager™, a new Resource Management product that extends the capabilities of its flagship product, NetBoss Manage.IT™, by incorporating efficient, policy-based automated management of critical device parameters. NetBoss Agent Manager™ allows network managers to establish the conditions that represent trouble areas on the network, and continually monitors incoming events and determines which management policies, if any, have been violated. Operators are then notified of those violations through a set of notification options including configurable NetBoss® alarms, SMS or text messages, or email.

“In an increasingly complex networking world, successful and efficient monitoring and control of network resources depends not only on processing events and alarms, but also on evaluating device parameters in a timely manner,” said John Koenig, vice president of the Harris NetBoss business unit. “The new NetBoss Agent Manager™, together with NetBoss Manage.IT™ and Harris Smart Agents, forms a robust, flexible, and efficient Resource Management Operational Support System (OSS) of unmatched power and effectiveness.”

Network Operation Center (NOC) operators will find NetBoss Agent Manager™ an easy, user-friendly way to organize managed devices on their network, and even managed services into a set of simple networking policies. NetBoss Agent Manager™ also gives operators dynamically updated views of detailed historical information using powerful graphs.

NetBoss Agent Manager™ offers multiple benefits. Its user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) for rules creation enables operators and technicians, rather than software engineers, to create policy-based rule sets. This simplifies management agents and lowers operations support costs. Once rules are created and activated, device parameters supplied by Harris Smart Agents are automatically evaluated to generate events and reports, lowering operator workload, automating monitoring, and further reducing operations costs.

NetBoss Agent Manager™ is available now. Contact Harris for more information via phone: 1-800-442-7747, or email: netsup@harris.com.
