Texas Instruments Selects MIPS32® 24Kc™ Processor Core for Low-Power IP Phone Solution

MIPS-Based™ TNETV1051 Gigabit Ethernet SoC Reduces Development Time and Costs; Enables Superior VoIP Quality for Next-Generation IP Phones

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., November 6, 2006 - MIPS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MIPS), a leading provider of industry-standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer, networking, personal entertainment, communications and business applications, today announced that Texas Instruments (TI) has licensed the MIPS32® 24Kc™ processor core for its newest generation of Gigabit Ethernet IP Phone System-on-a-Chip (SoC).

TI’s TNETV1051/1052/1053 devices are dual-core communications processors based on a 300 MHz MIPS32 24Kc core and TI’s 150MHz C55x DSP, and are optimized with a comprehensive suite of IP phone applications software. TI’s integration of the high-performance, low-power MIPS32 24Kc core onto the platform helps reduce the cost, development time, power consumption and complexity of IP phone solutions and accelerate manufacturers’ time-to-market.

“As the market for enterprise VoIP continues to grow and consumers demand more robust features on IP-based phones, we are pleased that the functionality of the 24Kc core meets our requirements to deliver superior VoIP solutions to our global customers,” said Fred Zimmerman, executive director, VoIP customer premises solutions, Texas Instruments.

“TI’s reputation for developing best-in-class silicon solutions for IP telephony is highly regarded throughout the industry,” said Brad Holtzinger, vice president of worldwide sales at MIPS Technologies. “As market leaders in VoIP, we’re delighted that our combined expertise delivers tangible cost savings, increased performance and enhanced features for OEMs and ODMs worldwide.”

About the MIPS32 24K® Core Family
The MIPS32 24K core family offers performance of 660 MHz in a 90 nanometer G process, while minimizing design time and reducing product costs. These processor cores are suited to embedded consumer applications including digital and interactive TVs, set-top boxes and DVD players. Their low-power also makes them ideal for battery-powered consumer electronics such as handheld phones and portable media players. Leveraging the CorExtend™ capability of MIPS Technologies’ Pro Series of cores, development teams can add their own instructions and functionality to their MIPS-Based™ SoCs, lowering development costs and accelerating their time-to-market.
