OpenHosting Founders to Speak at ISPCon
Vienna, VA - The founders of OpenHosting, Scott Mendenhall and Grisha Trubetskoy, will present the technical and business challenges of being the first service provider to implement a utility pricing model for hosting.
According to Scott Mendenhall, "The acceptance by the customer base has been fantastic. We know that hosting is rapidly becoming an on-demand utility. Consumers have come to expect that they will only be charged for what they use, but like with electric service have what they need when they need it. Our utility pricing model allows them to do just that - to pay for just the computing resources they use when they use them. They appreciate the fact that we can show them what resources they use and when. Further, most of the users saw a decrease in their monthly billing.”
In order to provide this level of service and billing detail, Chief Technology Officer Grisha Trubetskoy developed an enterprise software package for monitoring, measuring and charging back all of the resources used within a virtual private server environment. “We had to relook at our entire business model to be able to support this dramatic change. We knew that the future was going to be with a utility model and are more than pleased to be the first one to offer this service. ISPCon affords us the opportunity to share with the open source and hosting communities the lessons that we learned in doing so.”
