Create a Home Atmosphere Like Ranch Interiors of Days Gone By

Leopards, bears and whitetail deer trophy mounts like those seen in country gentry homes of days gone by will be offered to home decorators and the general public at auction today and tomorrow, April 22nd and 23rd in Fort Worth. The World Class Big Game Trophy and Western Auction is thought to contain the biggest collection of Boone and Crockett Whitetail Deer taxidermy mounts ever sold in Texas.

A 10’ bear or an American Buffalo with its traditional appeal can give your décor the atmosphere of the homes of the country nobility of an earlier era. The sale contains over 2000 pieces from private and corporate collections, including record book and fine taxidermy mounts of 100’s of species such as Longhorns, Buffalos, Axis and Fallow deer, Giraffe, Black Bear, Caribou, two Leopards in a scene, Beaver, Big Horn, a full body Bengal Tiger, Zebra and Ibex. The collection also has Grizzly, Polar bear, Zebra, Giraffe and Lion rugs and others plus numerous hides, birds, horns, and fish mounts such as Marlin and Northern Pike.

The most unusual item is an enormous elephant shoulder mount, a very unusual and rare reproduction, “You wouldn’t have to worry about your neighbor having one,” said John Brommel, sale organizer. “This kind of sale is an interior decorator’s dream.” Whether you want to enhance your trophy room or decorate your cabin, ranch or restaurant, there is no shortage of unusual things to choose from in addition to the taxidermy pieces. There is a wide variety of antler chandeliers, horn and hide furniture, trunks, bar stools, antler mirrors, wagon wheels, metal art, dressers and coffee tables. For collectors of Civil War artifacts, there are even some items from that era, plus firearms dating prior to the 1900’s, coins, jewelry and cowboy and Indian collectibles.

The auction is being held on Friday, April 22nd starting at 12 pm and on Saturday, April 23rd starting at 10am at the Will Rogers Memorial Center, 1 Amon Carter Square, Exhibits Building 1 in Fort Worth. Preview is Thursday, April 21stth from 1-5 pm and Friday, April 22nd, 10-12pm. Auctioneer Bruce McCarty is selling the collection for John Brommel of the Corner Shoppe in Austin, Texas.
