Jobster’s October Employment Report Highlights Hottest Jobs and Hot Markets

SEATTLE — November 1, 2006 — Is it a great time to be a looking for work in the airline industry? Are you looking for seasonal employment as a Santa Claus photographer? Is hiring on the rise in New York?

Jobster, the online recruiting service that simplifies making successful career matches for both jobseekers and employers, today released its monthly employment search trends data. According to Jobster’s latest employment trends report, both airlines and photography are among the fastest growing job searches on the Internet during October. In addition, there was a 14% percentage increase in searches in the New York City market.

“The October report reflects the very latest trends in job search, and specifically shows the positions and the markets in which jobseekers are turning to Jobster to help them find the right career match,” said Jobster Vice President Todd Leeson. “The Jobster search trends data provides valuable insight for people entering the workforce as they select their profession as well as currently employed people contemplating a career or location change.”

In October 2006, the following local markets experienced the greatest increases in job searches compared to prior months:

1. New York City (+14%)
2. Chicago (+13%)
3. Washington DC (+12%)
4. San Francisco (+10%)
5. Sacramento (+10%)
6. Nashville (+10%)
7. Atlanta (+9%)
8. Raleigh (+9%)
9. Philadelphia (+9%)
10. Charlotte (+9%)

During the same period, the position keywords experiencing the greatest increase were:

1. airline (+539%)
2. photography (+214%)
3. art (+39%)
4. manufacturing (+29%)
5. babysitting (+18%)
