Enhanced technology provides innovative promotional opportunities geared toward hospitality retailers

October 31, 2006 - ATLANTA – NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced that it has expanded its two-sided thermal printing technology portfolio to include a receipt printer designed for the hospitality industry.

The NCR RealPOS™ 7198 Two-Sided Receipt Printer will debut at the 2006 International Foodservice Technology (FS/TEC) Exposition in Long Beach, Calif., on Nov. 5-8 (booth 801).

By simultaneously printing on both sides of the receipt, the NCR Two-Sided Receipt Printer enables restaurants to boost marketing and promotional efforts at the point of sale without relying on preprinted receipt rolls. Such on-demand messaging can include promotions, coupons, surveys and community announcements. In addition, the NCR Two-Sided Receipt Printer now offers color options (blue, black or red) on one side of the receipt paper.

“By using two-sided receipts, restaurateurs can maintain control over customer messages and promotions,” said Tracy Flynn, vice president, NCR Hospitality Sales. “With two-sided printing, the need for preprinted rolls is eliminated, which removes outdated messaging in exchange for customizable, targeted advertising and marketing initiatives on the back of each receipt.”

The NCR RealPOS 7198 Two-Sided Receipt Printer offers the same small footprint and reliability as the NCR RealPOS 7197 Receipt Printer, but with an enhanced design to meet the needs of harsh retail environments, such as the hospitality industry.

“As managers of one of the harshest retail environments, restaurateurs face a multitude of challenges, including frequent food and beverage spills,” said Flynn. “The NCR Two-Sided Receipt Printer is designed to endure mishaps associated with the demanding restaurant atmosphere for a longer life and greater return on investment.”

With its intelligent and intuitive design, the NCR Two-Sided Receipt Printer also offers enhanced usability, from initial set up through everyday operations. The printer provides drop-in paper loading, as well as single-button programming for improved serviceability.

“Employee turnover is another challenge for the restaurant industry,” said Flynn. “Operators struggle with balancing training time with maximizing operational efficiencies. The enhanced two-sided printer is designed to help managers quickly train new employees and spend less time servicing and reloading the device.”

Additional benefits of the NCR RealPOS Two-Sided Receipt Printer include reduced paper usage resulting in: lower operational costs and a positive impact on the environment; savings in time at the point of sale with a reduction in paper-roll changes; and increased customer satisfaction from a more manageable receipt.
