British Government Supports International Conference On Remittances

BRITISH GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON REMITTANCES

To take place on Monday 30th October, at Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Knightsbridge, London

Gareth Thomas, MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary, The Department for International Development has sent the following message to the Global Consumer Money Transfers Conference.

“Remittances from the UK and the other countries make a significant contribution to tackling poverty in the developing world. The Department for International Development has put in place a set of actions with the private sector and developing county governments to enhance the impact of remittances on development.

“Money transfer companies have an important role in providing low cost, secure and accessible remittance services on a significant scale. I welcome the focus of the International Association of Money Transfer Networks on helping companies to achieve this goal.”
